The Tsubame Cup International Open is an event in which Spin Gear proposes a new way to enjoy "Koma", starting with the commemoration of the World SpinTop Contest.

The event is designed to be played in a way that falls somewhere between the prescribed and freestyle styles, where participants are free to combine their own tricks from a predetermined list of tricks within a given time frame. Many of the rules are inspired by the Kendama World Cup ®︎. The organizer's wish is that everyone who participates will enjoy playing koma-mawashi in their own way. Not only the players who advance to the finals, but also those who succeed in all 10 moves of their choice in the qualifying rounds will be awarded the "Full Mark award".

The competitor must circle the tricks on the trick sheet in advance to make it clear which tricks he/she will perform. The pre-selected tricks cannot be changed during the competition. (It is against the rules to change to an easier trick at the end of the time limit, or to try a higher scoring trick in the time left over.)

In the preliminary rounds, the order of tricks to be attempted in each round is up to the competitor.

The points will be awarded according to the level of tricks that are successfully performed. (0 points will be awarded for tricks that are not successful within the time limit.)

The top 10 or so (tentative) with the highest total points will advance to the finals. The results of the preliminary rounds will determine the ranking of all participants, so even if you do not make it to the finals, you can get an idea of how good you are. If there is no one in your age group in the finals, you may be eligible for age-group awards based on the results of the preliminary rounds.

【preliminary】

Preliminary groups will be divided into groups of 3-5 players.

Each player will play a 3-minute round as instructed by the MC.

At the beginning of the round, players are allowed to keep their koma with the string wrapped around it. There is no limit to the number of times a player can re-throw the koma and rewind the string within the time limit.

In the preliminary rounds, only one koma and one string may be used in each round. Spare pieces and strings may be exchanged between the first and second rounds.

The group leader or a full-time judge will be the judge to judge the success of tricks.

The qualifying round is considered complete when the score sheet with the scores is submitted to the Management Office after the completion of the qualifying round.

More detail for each tricks

The competition will be held on the stage for one 3-minute round only.

In the finals only, competitors may select tricks from the entire list of tricks.

For the finals only, you will be able to choose tricks from the entire list of tricks. There is no need to include a trick that cannot be done in the composition, so it is not necessary to include it.

→The ideal composition is expected to be a combination of one 7, 8, 9, 10 trick and one trick from 1-6.

In the finals, the competitors are allowed to have more than 6 tricks per round.(No limit trick number)

The competitors must submit a list of tricks and the order in which they will perform them to the judges prior to the competition. Athletes are not allowed to perform tricks in a different order from the one they have declared.

A competitor may skip (pass) a declared move during the competition. The passed move will receive zero points. Once you pass a move, you cannot go back and try it again later. If a player skips a trick by mistake, it will be treated as a pass, but if the player realizes it during the game, he/she can go back to that trick and try again from that point in the game in order.

If a player makes a mistake and skips a trick, it will be treated as a pass. One of the tops must be an unmodified swallow (including the pointed end). Also, the swallows must be used at least once. If you do not have any swallows, you may borrow swallows provided by the management.

All three swallows may be ready to use at the start of the round with the strings wrapped around them. There is no limit to the number of times a player can re-throw a koma or rewind the string within the time limit.

Points will be awarded according to the level of successful tricks.

The highest total points will be awarded first.

【FInal round flow】

The rounds will be played one by one on the stage.

Judges will judge the success of tricks.

Tricks that are judged successful by at least 2 out of 3 judges will be considered as successful.

The order of the competitors in the finals will be based on the order of the score of all the tricks reported by the judges, starting from the competitor with the lowest score.

【How to judge】

Players are not allowed to spin before the start signal .

It will be treated as flying and will be considered a failure.

A trick that ends on the hand is considered a success if the spinning of the koma is recognized as remaining at the moment it is placed on the hand. The number of seconds after the koma is placed on the hand is irrelevant.

A trick that ends on the string is considered successful if the koma is still in position on the string. Simply touching the string is not considered a success.

A trick may be performed consecutively within the time limit as long as the spinning of the top is continued.

Tricks performed for more than 3 minutes will not be scored.

If a trick is still in progress when 3 minutes elapses, it will not be scored.

【表彰】

The results will be based on the qualifying + final scores.

The highest scorers in the under 10s, teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s and above will be designated as age-group champions.

The top three highest scorers will also be awarded prizes.

Of the athletes who participated in the qualifying rounds, all athletes who succeeded in all 10 events of their choice will be awarded the Full Mark Prize.

FAQ

Q:If I do a tightrope walk from a swallow back, do I get points for two?

A:Yes, you can apply for the Swallow Back and Lark Back as tricks and fill in the sheet, and if you succeed, you will get points. For advanced riders, it is more efficient to do only advanced tricks without counting basic tricks, so even if a trick is included as an element, it will not be counted as a trick unless you apply for it.
