New D-size (OS) kit now available!

A spacer kit for the OS model is now available. By using D-size bearings, it becomes an off-string yo-yo.

Compatibility Between OS and Conventional Size D Parts

Although the bearing sizes are the same, so they might seem compatible, the thickness of the spacers differs, and consequently, the length of the bearing lock that secures the bearing is different. Please note that the parts and axles are not compatible; you will need to replace the spacer, hub, and axle as a set. Additionally, while the OS spacer uses a 18mm long axle, if you install an axle shorter than that, the impact from a fall will be transmitted entirely to the bearing lock, causing the hub to break or bend and resulting in a broken yo-yo. Please be sure to use the correct combination of parts.

Compatibility is maintained between yo-yos, so as long as you replace all parts properly, you can enjoy different bearing sizes and gaps.

Size C

The spacer is thicker due to the maximum gap optimized for bind specifications and the step designed to increase the yo-yo width compared to Size D.

Size D

The original SGX system. Designed with the assumption that Size D- bearings will be used, featuring a gap optimized for the Spin Gadget POM’s pullback and regeneration. By using Size D concave bearings, it also accommodates bind play. A setup has been discovered that supports off-string play when using a Whizy string.

OS

Features a spacer optimized for the off-string gap using Size D. The spacer itself is thicker to increase the overall width. This adds weight to the center section, resulting in a feel that is easy to handle even for beginners. Although the spacer is thick, the bearings sink into it, so the overall thickness is actually greater than that of Size C. To prevent the screw holes from being misaligned, this is not a through-type design. However, since there are holes, it can be modified relatively easily by tapping them. If you use a short axle, all the load will be concentrated on the thin part of the bearing lock (approx. 0.5 mm), causing it to break easily. Be sure to use the standard 18 mm axle and utilize the entire length of the screw.

About the Body Spinning Freely

When disassembling a yo-yo equipped with the SGX system, the body may spin freely. This occurs because the bearing lock is seated too tightly, causing the hub (the metal part in the center) to remain stationary while the body spins. With brand-new SGX units—especially those with particularly tight bearing locks—forcing the lock into place during assembly may allow the yo-yo to be assembled, but it could also result in the lock becoming permanently stuck.

To avoid this, when installing a new SGX, check the fit between the hub and the bearing without attaching it to the body first. If the bearing seems too tight, it may help to lightly sand the area around the bearing lock with sandpaper. Additionally, tightening the screw can sometimes cause the bearing lock area of the hub to indent slightly, making it easier to disassemble later.

Since this part requires some care, please be especially careful during assembly.

We have released the aluminum axle assembly used in the POM Spin Gadget and Mega Spin Gadget. This is a spin-off of the Spin Gadget Trilogy.

The pads and bearings are sold separately. Please purchase them as needed. SGHG bearings are also included in the companion set. (One Size D bearing per item; Size C bearings are not included.)

By crafting your own body, this part holds the potential to easily transform it into a yo-yo. Of course, it can also be used as a replacement part for the Spin Gadget POM.

<Size D> Even lightweight yo-yos in the 40g range benefit from Size D, providing sufficient rotational power. While the narrower width compared to Size C presents a disadvantage in terms of glide for competition models, when used as a homemade yo-yo for play, you can enjoy the superior benefit of reduced wobble.

〈Size C〉The well-known feel of Size C. You can fully enjoy the benefits of its excellent glide. With SGX, using a C-minus bearing allows for off-string play.

With the Spin Gear, we were able to print it just barely without support, but since results vary depending on your specific setup—such as your printer and materials—please adjust the settings accordingly before printing. The design of the main body (which has one flat side) and the spacer allows for high-precision, easy printing even on a 3D printer.

Additionally, since the hub part features a through-hole, there is room for expansion on the face side as well. Please try installing hub stacks and other components.
