We commissioned Mr Tamotsu Fukushima, a master craftsman of Edo-Koma, to create a collection of miniature toys under the name ‘Spingi-ya’. 

These are not merely miniature items; they are meticulously crafted toys designed to be played with. Generally speaking, the smaller the size of an Edo-koma or wooden miniature toy, the more difficult it is to make and the higher the price. We placed this special order in the hope that he would express the essence of Edo-era aesthetics through these skill toys.

While dreaming of what it would be like if Spingear were a toy wholesaler dating back to the Edo period, we held several meetings to select the items to be stocked at the spinning toy wholesaler ‘Spingi-ya’.

The word ‘ya’ implies a shop, and as the pronunciation of ‘Spin Gear’ is similar to that of ‘Spingi-ya’, we have modelled the name on this tradition, as many shops in the Edo period had ‘ya’—meaning ‘shop’—at the end of their names.

Excluding the items on display at Spingear, only two pieces will be produced for sale, making this a limited edition.

Yo-yos

We are committed to using high-quality wood and have had our products crafted from three different types of timber.

It is made from boxwood, a material also used for combs.

The cherry tree has a beautiful grain.

Kendama

Kendama is one of the three pillars of Spin Gear’s skill toys. These pocket-sized kendamas are now in stock at Spingi-Ya!

Koma(Tops)

実演などでは５００円球サイズのこまを作ることが多いですが回すのが大変なミニミニサイズ。職人の技術が光る小さいこまです。

ちょんかけこま。普段は作られないそうですがすぴんぎ屋には外せない、と思い実物を見てもらい作ってもらいました。指回しで遊んでみてください。

普段のスピンギアでは取り扱いがありませんが、江戸独楽の定番、花こまを入れてもらいました。頑張れば３つ同時に回せます。

曲独楽、刃渡りのミニチュア。真鍮の軸で本物の曲独楽の雰囲気をまとっています。

曲独楽、振り独楽。本物は直径２５−３０cmもある大きなこま（値段も十数万）ですが、ミニチュアで再現し、手に入れやすいサイズ、価格になりました。
